Résidence
Altaïr
The Altaïr residence is located in Cap-à-Aigle, in the Charlevoix region. Its name refers to the brightest star in the constellation of the Eagle and means “eagle in flight.”
This residence stands out with its V-shaped layout, which opens up to the landscape, and its long façades that extend into the void.
Formally, two longitudinal prisms are stacked one on top of the other. A deliberate offset enhances the view of the landscape. The long-glazed façades provide various viewpoints and frames of the river, the forest, and the city of La Malbaie below.
The living spaces flow into one another, and the completely open layout provides an unobstructed view of the horizon. There is access to a large terrace built on the roof of the lower level. This level also houses the master suite, which is slightly set back in the forest. In terms of materials, the two volumes are covered with a grayish wood siding. The recessed facades or those protected by the roof overhangs are covered with Western cedar.
