L’Accostée Residence is located in the Adstock region, along the shores of Lake St-François. The project is designed as a delicately sculpted volume that integrates seamlessly with the site by following its topography. The architectural forms are bold ans striking, while the materials – sanded beige wood and red cedar slats – are more subtle and inviting.

The clients have been enjoying this beautiful site for several years and take full advantage of the water activities offered by the lake. Their original house, in poor condition and becoming too small for their growing family, prompted them to decide to rebuild while preserving the natural surroundings and maintaining the open space along the lake. They desired a welcoming and warm residence that respects the environment and opens up to the lake.

From the access road, passersby can see the top level and the garage. ↓

The project appears to cling to the footprint of the original house and extends to the rear through the forest, keeping the shoreline open. A strong duality is present between the more discreet arrival and the reveal of a façade open to the lake. The idea is to not reveal everything at first glance. ↓

A terrace with a spa is set up above, and wide steps extend towards the lake. This architectural gesture takes the form of an agora and becomes the focal point of the new residence. ↓

On the lake side, three above-ground levels rise elegantly, revealing a facade articulated by a play of angles and large openings. ↓

The original foundations are preserved to house a large storage area. ↓

The design considers the site's slope: the interior spaces follow the natural gradient of the land. ↓

The host welcomes friends and family around the large U-shaped island in a friendly and gathering atmosphere. ↓

The children's rooms, located on the upper floor, are accessible via the walkway. ↓

This contemporary residence stands out for its expression of wooden structure. The exposed beams inside extend to the outside, enhancing the transparency effect towards the lake. The roof extends to limit summer solar heat gain on the south-facing glass facade. ↓

The residence is revealed gradually as one moves through the different levels. ↓

The staircase connecting the three levels is light and dynamic: it runs along the red cedar wall and leads to the garden level. It is at this level that one discovers an indoor pool, a well-kept secret, nestled at the heart of the residence. ↓

The master bedroom, set back from the living areas, offers a serene view of the cedars outside. ↓

The pool is accessed by crossing the Paleolithic mosaic that adorns the shower walls. ↓

Natural light sweeps across the end wall of the long pool, enhancing the appeal for a swim. ↓
